With the vigorous development of the current automotive industry layout. It has also brought more business to many multimodal transportation companies, and many car manufacturers and transportation companies will have more cooperative relationships. Therefore, some common operating methods of the company should also be understood. The following is an introduction to commonly used collaborative and connected transportation methods.
1、 Collaborative: This method refers to the transportation of goods from the place where the goods are taken over to the designated place of delivery by two or more modes of transportation, in accordance with unified regulations or agreed upon agreements. One of the basic forms of domestic freight intermodal transportation at present. Under this mode, all carriers participating in intermodal transportation can accept the consignor's consignment application, receive the goods, sign the entire transportation documents, and be responsible for the transportation and production of their own sections.
In addition to being responsible for the transportation and production of their own section, the subsequent carrier also needs to undertake transportation connection work. The carrier needs to bear the responsibility of delivering goods and accepting claims for cargo damage and difference from the consignee. Under this system, each carrier participating in intermodal transportation has a dual identity. Externally speaking, both parties are joint carriers, and the transportation contract signed between one carrier (or the intermodal transportation agency representing all carriers) and the shipper is binding on the other carriers, which is considered as each carrier having a transportation contract relationship with the cargo owner.
Internally, each carrier not only has the obligation to complete the actual transportation and related freight organization work of their own section, but also should bear risks and allocate benefits according to regulations or agreed agreements. At present, collaborative multimodal transport can be further divided into two types: statutory (multimodal) transport and agreement (multimodal) transport, depending on the different basis for conducting intermodal transport.
2、 Linkage type: In multimodal transportation of automobiles, the linkage type refers to the transportation of goods from the place where the goods are taken over to the designated place where the goods are delivered, organized by a multimodal transportation enterprise (hereinafter referred to as the multimodal transportation operator) to transport two or more modes of transportation. The operator of this method may be either an international freight forwarder, station operator, or warehouse operator who does not own any transportation vehicles, or an actual carrier engaged in a certain section. However, regardless, one must hold a license approved by the relevant national regulatory authorities and be able to independently assume responsibility. Under the connected multimodal transport, the transportation organization work is separated from the actual transportation production. The multimodal transport operator is responsible for the entire transportation organization work, while the actual carriers in each section are responsible for the actual transportation production.
In this way, for the cargo side, it is the full carrier, who enters into a full transportation contract with the cargo side, charges the full freight and other fees to the cargo side, and assumes the obligations of the carrier; For the actual carriers in each section, they are shippers who enter into separate transportation contracts with the actual carriers in each section and pay freight and other necessary fees to the actual carriers.
Through the introduction of this article, we should have a preliminary understanding of some commonly used transportation methods by multimodal transport companies. Of course, before specific implementation, both parties still need to negotiate more detailed issues and formulate relevant agreements and contracts in order to better carry out related business, ensure smooth completion, and establish a good cooperative relationship.
